Global eSports Classic (March 3rd –  March 4th)

Event Description

Global eSports Classic and Clinic hosted by Grand View University. This unique format consists of a university tournament and professional development clinic which will take place March 2-4, 2018, at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Global eSports Classic:

The tournament will be a sixteen team college and university tournament beginning Saturday, March 3 and finishing on the afternoon of Sunday, March 4. Registration will open Monday, December 18. Team entry fee is $400 per team. First place prize will be $5000 and team gear, with prize money and gear, also awarded to 2, 3, 4th place finishers. There will also be a Silver, Bronze and Consolation bracket in which prizes will be awarded to the winner in each bracket. All equipment will be provided.

Location: Sisam Arena, Grand View University, Des Moines, Iowa

Format:
Group/Pool Stage – Groups of 4 teams – each team plays everyone in group (Bo1, Starting Saturday, March 3 @ 10am)

Championship Single Elimination Bracket (Starting Saturday night and Sunday Morning, March 3 & 4):
Championship Bracket Semis – top team from each pool (Bo3); Finals (Bo5)
Silver Bracket – second place team from each pool – Semis and Finals (Bo3)
Bronze and Consolation Bracket – 3rd and 4th place team from each pool – Semis (Bo1);
Finals (Bo3)

Team Entry Fee: $400 per team

Prizes:
Tournament Champion – $5000 and  $1000 team gear
Second Place – $2000 and $750 team gear
Third Place – $1000 and $500 team gear
Fourth Place Overall – $500 and team gear
Silver and Bronze Bracket Champion – $500
Consolation Bracket Champion – $200

Global eSports Clinic:

Grand View University will be conducting a clinic for the development of competitive eSports programs and high school and college eSports coaches, analysts, directors, casters, creatives and other vital eSports careers.

Clinic topics for keynote and panel discussions: The Evolution of Competitive eSports, Recruiting the eSports Student/Athlete, eSports Athlete – Stages of Development and How to Positively Influence Individual and Team Development, Principles of Play in Competitive eSports Games – Learning the Fundamentals, Developing Productive Practice and Training Sessions for competitive eSports Teams, and How to Start a High School or University eSports Competitive Program.

Date: Friday, March 2 (check-in begins at 5 p.m.; clinic begins at 6:30 p.m.) – Saturday, March 3 (8:30-4:30)
